WP-Cache Plugin
November 25th, 2006 by K. Liisi Linask
Over the past few days, I’ve been looking around at the various plugins available for WordPress. One that I came across over and over again was WP-Cache. From various comments, it seemed like the way to go to for a faster and more efficient site. Considering that this is a fairly new blog with very little traffic, it is probably not an absolutely necessary plugin at the moment. However, I thought I would be proactive and install it just in case. It would make more sense to try it out now than when I really need it.
So I go ahead and install it, take a quick look at the site, and everything seems fine. A couple of days later, upon loading the main blog page, I discover just a blank page there. Considering that the WP-Cache was the only thing to be different, I quickly deduced the problem was with WP-Cache, disabled it, and everything was back to normal. Now I was a bit puzzled. This was supposed to be a great plugin, yet all I’m getting is blank pages. A quick Google search revealed a number of others who had had the same problem with the plugin. I found the solution on the Blogging Blog. I made the quick function change suggested, re-enabled the plugin, and all seems to be well with the site again so far. After this episode, I decided to update my local testing server to PHP 5 to match the production server to hopefully avoid such incompatibilities in the future.
