New Theme

I finally have gotten my theme editing to the point where I am confident enough in the changes to upload it and try it out in the wild. I call it CloudyView. The layout and most of the code is based on the MistyLook theme, but I made a number of changes to the images and color schemes.

The colors are all based on the header image photo (taken by me in Florida) and the fish in the “About” sidebar. There may still be a few styles that will need adjustments down the road, but until I come across formatting that uses all the styles, I won’t know which ones to edit. So far I have covered code tags, unordered lists, comments, and the various views for posts, users, and comments.

The sidebar uses widgets. I added a couple of custom widgets for the “About” and “Administration” sidebar boxes. There is a new favorites and address bar icon. The favicon was probably the most time consuming change, as I had all kinds of trouble getting a halfway decent looking fish when scaling down to 16 X 16 pixels. Many thanks go to the Safari Icon Manager, which rescued my sanity when I couldn’t figure out why the favicon.ico updates showed up just fine in Firefox, Opera, and Netscape, but wouldn’t change to the latest version in Safari. That covers the major changes. Hopefully there aren’t any glaring errors. Any suggestions for additional edits are welcome!

I like the new theme and find it soothing even though I am more of a “SunnyView” kind of person myself. I am also very grateful to the Safari Icon Manager as I was starting to worry about your state of mind myself ;) Looking good! Now if I could just get to this point myself. Maybe with your help over the holidays…
