Christmas, New Year 2007, and a Few Other Observations and Comments
January 7th, 2007 by K. Liisi Linask
It has been a while since I last posted, so it seems like a good time for a general update.

After the theme change was posted, I traveled to Washington to spend Christmas with my family. I got to experience some of that Pacific Northwest winter weather: lots of rain and even some snow. The break also included a short snow-shoeing trip to Gold Creek (Elev.2560ft) in the Snoqualmie Pass area.

Upon my return to Maryland, I had a couple of quiet days at work before another long weekend with New Year’s Day and the extra day in honor of President Ford.
Yesterday, January 6, was a remarkably warm day here. I don’t know what the exact high got to, but it was probably in the mid 60′s°F when I went out running in the late afternoon. While this warm spell might not be great for the cherry blossoms (some have started blooming), my rose bush is loving it. It is growing leaves and new branches better right now than it was during the summer.
As for computer stuff, I have mostly been messing around with XML-RPC and looking at Drupal as a possible alternative for my blog instead of WordPress. At this time, I have no plan on changing to Drupal, but I was just curious enough to experiment with it. I like the way Drupal handles multiple users and permissions for accessing site content. While WP does have some plugins that attempt something similar, IMHO, the plugins don’t work nearly as well as what is built in with Drupal.

Enjoyed the pictures! Thanx for sharing. Wish it was 60 degrees here in WA!
It is certainly not 60 degrees anymore. It has turned much colder since then.
